Learning from your current customers about your product
Find out what channels attracted customers… was it product reviews, recommendations, discount offers, advertising, search etc. What are you strongest channels currently.
Who loves you most?
Ask existing customers how they use the product. Find out how they feel about the product. Which type of customers love it most and why? Find out why they bought the product in the first place. What other products/services do they use it with. How does it fit into their workflow?
Check the messaging currently being internally by the company versus the language your customers use when they are talking about the product. Do they use the same words or do they talk about benefits and uses for the product that you are not currently mentioning in your messaging.
